BEN HAHN
I use art & animation to help people tell strange new stories.
HELLO,
I’m Ben. I’m a digital artist and animator who loves to tell stories. I got my Bachelor's in Applied Arts in Media Arts from Wichita State University, where I spent most of my time working on film sets, designing graphics, and of course, animating.
On this website you can find an overview of my most recent and notable work. Have a look around and if you like what you see, reach out and let’s work together to make something awesome!
Animated Short Film
The Discarded is an experimental animated short film about a broken android, an elusive junk monster, and the place where all the broken things go. It was made by a team of 15 over the course of a year and was animated and rendered entirely in Blender. After an exciting film festival run in 2023 at local and national film festivals, the short is available to watch on Youtube.
THE DISCARDED
RIGGING
Experience in Maya & Blender
Before an animator can animate a character, some technical guy needs to give the character (virtual) bones and controls to manipulate them with. Well, I’m the weirdo that enjoys that sort of thing and has done it for dozens of characters of varying shapes and sizes. I’ve also rigged machinery, props, and built camera rigs.
STYLIZED 3D ANIMATION
Experience in Maya & Blender
Inspired by video games and the constraints of independent animation, I have always been drawn towards stylization techniques in 3D. I’ve since grown a passion for pushing the medium of animation beyond the status quo and finding creative new ways to implement other artforms, like illustration, film, and music.
